Preparation Of MUPS (Multiple Unit Particles System) Tablet Using Celphere™ And Preliminary Blend Of Microcrystalline Cellulose And Pregelatinized Starch
Source: Asahi Kasei
Multiple dosage forms (Pellets, Capsule, MUPS tablet etc.) show better reproducibility of the drug absorption in the body than single dosage form (Matrix tablet). Moreover, MUPS tablet has many merits (Easy handling, Easy administration, Lower manufacturing cost etc. ) vs. capsule. The objective of this study was to propose MUPS tablet formulations using
- Celphere™,
- film polymers resistant to compression force and
- preliminary blend of microcrystalline cellulose (Ceolus™ KG-802 and PH-200) and pregelatinized starch which prevents segregation and film damage.
We proposed MUPS tablet formulations using 1)Celphere™,2)film polymers resistant to compression force and 3)preliminary blend of MCC and pregelatinized starch which prevents segregation and film damage.
- Celphere™ is suitable for MUPS tablet because of its low agglomeration tendency.
- We proposed coating film formulation having both flexible and low adhesive properties (Eudragit and anti-tacking agent blend).
- We proposed Preliminary blend of PH-200/KG-802/PC-10=56/24/20 which was effective in preventing segregation. Ceolus™ KG-802 is suitable for MUPS tablet because of its high compactibility and high interparticulate friction which lead to high tablet hardness and prevented segregation.
