Samsung Biologics Capabilities Update May 2026: Large Molecule
Samsung Biologics evolved from a single manufacturing site in Songdo, South Korea, into a full-spectrum CDMO providing integrated services across research, development, and commercial manufacturing. In this on-demand presentation, viewers explored one of the company’s most significant recent milestones: the April 2026 acquisition of a 60,000-liter biologics manufacturing campus in Rockville, Maryland, which expanded Samsung Biologics’ total global capacity to 845 kiloliters.
Throughout the session, Ryan Lee, Senior Director of Sales & Operations, discussed how the Rockville site strengthened a dual-sourcing strategy spanning U.S.- and Korea-based manufacturing operations, while also positioning the company closer to the FDA, NIH, and major biotech hubs. He also explained how Samsung Biologics’ “Excellence” framework supported seamless integration between the two sites. In addition, Lee shared insights into BioCampus 3, a next-generation multi-modality facility targeted to begin operations by 2030, and outlined the company’s long-term vision for growth in cell and gene therapy and other advanced modalities.
