Boehringer Ingelheim’s GMP-certified large-scale cell culture facility in Vienna is one of the most advanced biopharmaceutical multi-product plants in the world. Designed for maximum automation and flexibility, it features 48 bioreactors with a total volume of 185,000 liters, 120 tanks, and 20 chromatography columns capable of producing up to 100 kilograms of active ingredient per run.

Spanning 56,000 square meters, the facility leverages AI-driven process optimization, digital twin technology, and high automation to ensure efficiency, rapid product changeovers, and real-time data monitoring.
