Ask Us Anything: Cy Credille

Source: Cambrex

Cy Credille is a process research and development group leader at Cambrex Longmont, where his team focuses on very early process discovery and development chemistry and on those first kilo-scale deliveries — supplying material for the earliest portion of a program.

Asked how developers can balance process discovery and chemical development as an asset moves from pre-clinical to late clinical stages, Credille points to an initiative Cambrex calls One Cambrex. The risk, ordinarily, is that a molecule sheds hard-won knowledge each time it transfers to a different site or company. Under One Cambrex, the science travels with the molecule: as a program moves from Longmont's initial deliveries to the 20-to-100-kilogram scale at High Point, and on to NDA-enabling work such as fate-and-purge and proven-acceptable-range studies at Charles City, the scientists who invented the process stay on the team — continuity that removes setbacks and lets each stage hit the ground running.
