In Vitro Toxicology Models

As the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries continue to evolve, advancing science, innovation, and research animal welfare has become a prominent mission for research organizations and developers. Charles River is firmly committed to the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) as the founder company of the North American 3Rs Collaborative, an organization aiming to improve research animals’ lives, reduce their numbers while maintaining robust results, and replace them when scientifically appropriate.

Through the mission to develop and adopt replacements to animal testing, many acute toxicity tests are being effectively replaced by in vitro human, animal, and 3D tissue alternatives.
