Erie, PA – Life Science Leader magazine, a publication dedicated to executives involved in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical drug development, presented its 2013 CMO Leadership Awards during a ceremony and reception at the W Hotel in New York City. Rob Wright, chief editor of Life Science Leader, served as master of ceremonies for the event while Ed Miseta, chief editor of Outsourced Pharma, presented the awards to the recipients. The event, attended by over 300 industry professionals, was sponsored by Federal Equipment Company.

Craig Kennedy, Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain Management at Merck, served as guest speaker at the event. Kennedy spoke on the topic of personnel as a key driver of success in pharma manufacturing.

Life Science Leader developed the awards based on industry research from marketing intelligence firm Nice Insight, with the data gathered via surveys of end users. Contract manufacturing firms were presented with awards in five categories: quality, regulatory, reliability, productivity, and innovation.

Life Science Leader doesn’t determine the award winners,” says Wright. “Professionals in the pharma and biopharm industries determine the winners. Nice Insight surveys over 11,000 respondents on an annual basis on the five categories. Nice Insight gathers the data for their business, and we use that data to determine the winners. It’s important to know that tonight’s winners were determined by the gathering of customer perceptions on life science contract manufacturing companies, not the gathering of surveys geared specifically toward determining an award.”

Companies winning CMO Leadership Awards scored in the top 20% in their respective categories. All of the companies winning awards can be found on the CMO Leadership Awards web site - www.cmoleadershipawards.com.

Wright also presented the Industry Choice Awards at the ceremony, which went to the company that received the highest score in each of the five categories.
