Keep Your Eye On The Apple: Apple Makes A Move On The Watch Market—Could Pharma Be Next?
By Derek Hennecke, CEO and President, Xcelience
CEO of Rolex sounds like a pretty desirable job title and it might have been fun a year ago, when Dufour took the job. Back then, rumors of the Apple Watch were just rumors, and the idea of a tiny computer on the back of your wrist seemed a touch ridiculous.
Ask any adult under 30 who is willing to lay out $350 or more for a watch: Would he or she prefer the watch that can tap them to remind them to get off the train and send sweet secret messages to their partner, or a watch that just tells time? Heck, I'm well over thirty and I love my old school watches, but I want an Apple Watch. I like the business ‘nudge’ feature that will allow me to silently message colleagues in a meeting. A year ago I might have lusted over a Rolex, but no more. I only have one wrist.
Apple Watch launch is a ticking time bomb for the watch industry. Or is it?
